Long Beach Travel Guide
Welcome to Long Beach, WA!
Originally known as Tinkerville, after Henry Harrison Tinker purchased the land claim in 1880, this small oceanfront town is now called Long Beach. As its name suggests, the town is situated along the Long Beach Peninsula, just 3.7 mi (6.0km) from the Port of Ilwaco. Its beach front location and long list of annual events make it a popular tourist spot, especially for families. The annual Long Beach Bluegrass Festival occurs every spring, and the annual SandSations Sand Sculpture Competition takes place in July. In the late summertime, major kite-fliers and enthusiasts make their way to Long Beach for the annual Washington State International Kite Festival. If visitors require a brief history lesson, or need to brush up on their kite-flying facts, stopping by the World Kite Museum & Hall of Fame should do the trick.
Attending the numerous festivals and events around town is not all there is to do. Visitors to Long Beach can also explore and experience the beauty of nature. Strolling along the 0.5mi (0.8km) boardwalk offers scenic views, and proves to be a favorite activity.
